Well, here's the story. Sarah ran her 1500m heat at OFFSA (Ontario Championships) - In here words, she ran a dumb race, choosing to hang back and charge late which backfired. She finished 6th in her heat. The top 4 form each of the 2 heats (12 in each) advanced to the final. Then, the next 4 fastest times rounded out the final 12 runners. She missed by .9 of a second!. It was a learning experience and she was quite upset, but took it well. She reminded me of myself when I congratulated her on her time of 4:46 (3 seconds shy of her best) but she didn't want congratulations - she was too bummed that she didn't run better. Not just faster, but smarter. Sounds like me, not happy when you know you've left something out there!
Sarah still has Saturday's 3000m final to look forward to. A chance to redeem herself, if only in her own mind. We are already incredibly proud of her achievements despite yesterday or tomorrow's end result. She has come a long way and deserves credit. She has worked very hard and raised her running level to a very high standard.
Kick ass tomorrow Sarah!
