I will be fast, I will beat my marathon PB twice in '10
I will be fast, I will be strong. I will beat my marathon PB at least twice in 2010 Yes, it is going to be hard work, and diligence with the diet, and a new found respect for sleep! But I will do it. Pain is so bearable. Well, some pain :)

Sub 20 minute 5k
Finally, the monkey is off my back. 19:55 for 5k, what's next...
|
Still no sub 20 5k
It's time. If not this weekend, then maybe next weekend at my first cross country outing for Ontario Masters.
This weekend is the Hannukah Hustle. Weather looks good. Lets\'s hope the fitness level is there. Pain, on the way!

Running Weather revisited
A great quote I recently heard...Don’t wait for perfect weather. to go for a run... If you do, you won’t run very often!
|
Running weather
The greatest Running Weather has finally arrived. Looking forward to some cottage runs too!
|
Spring has Sprung
I know we shouldn't get too excited but Spring has Sprung and it is nice to be running in shorts again.
|
Bring on the spring
I can live with the cold - but I am not looking forward to the thaw and slush! As many of you know, I do not complain much about winter. I run in all kinds of weather, and haven't had an issue with the temperatures or running in snow, and such. But I have a feeling that as this crap all melts, I am going to be bummed with the wetness and gigantic puddles that are about to start appearing everywhere! Yuck.

A New Year

Song of the Day - Nov 19
Song of the day - As heard on Californication a few episodes ago. A cover of ELO's Do ya, by Neil Nathan In this life Ive seen everything I can see woman,
Ive seen lovers flying through the air hand in hand
Ive seen babies dancing in the midnight sun,
And Ive seen dreams that came from the heavenly skies above
Ive seen old men crying at their own grave sides
And Ive seen pigs all sitting watching, picture slides
But I never seen nothing like you.
Chorus
Do ya do ya want my love
Do ya do ya want my face
Do ya do ya want my mind
Do ya do ya want my love
Well i, heard the crowd singin out of tune,
As they, sat and sang auld lang syne by the light of the moon
I heard the preachers bangin on the drums,
And I heard the police playin with their guns
But I never heard nothin like you.
In the country where the sky touches down
On the field, she lay her down to rest
In the morning sun,
They come a runnin' just to get a look, just to
Feel to touch her long black hair they dont give a damn
Chorus -- repeat
Well I think you know what Im trying to say woman,
That is Id like to save you for a rainy day,
Ive seen enough of the world to know,
That Ive got to get it all to get it all to grow.

Band of the Day - Nov 17
Forgotten great song of the day: 'School' by Supertramp. Great Band, outdated maybe, still great.

Marathon Training keeps you healthy
2 headaches in 3 days. Not drinking enough water. Training for marathons reminds me to hydrate properly which I have not done so in this current downtime. Need to get back into it! :)

Taebo
I thought TAEBO classes were supposed to be hard. But alas, not when you're in shape! OK, it was DVD one, from Billy Banks. I was the only one in the class not sweating. People were like, Dave, what's up with you?

My friend Nir
My friend Nir ran his second marathon...almost beat me! He did awesome. Nir ran his 2nd marathon, the first one being about 4 years ago. He has been running a lot since then but mostly half marathons. He trained well and was hoping to runa 3:45 which would be a great improvement of 23 minutes over his previous 4:08. Instead, he cooked it and ran 3:36:50 a whopping 32 minute improvement! Way to go Nir!

Of Monsters and Heroes and Men
I can't stop listening to James' album Hey Ma - In particular 'Of Monsters and Heroes and Men'. Get it. Listen to it. Brilliant. Go...Now!!!
Stray cats with fish heads
Feeding their litters
Feral kids fight
Over rats tailed from gutters
Bookie mouth brokers
Rotten fruit sellers
Pickpockets ghost through the crowd
He climbs onto boxes
By market stall traders
Toothless and grey haired
Thousand yard stare
He had a vision
Which broke the receiver
Receiving transmission
Surface to air
Either way. I’m in awe of you
Either way. We’ll survive. We’ll survive
Conjuring devils,
Angels and demons
Only the children see shape to his tone
Laughing and crying
His song fell upon us
We buried his treasure along with the bones
Arms held aloft
A Y to the sky
Innocent witness
He testified
Drained of his purpose
He falls off the quayside
Absorbed by the ocean
Rolled by the tide
Either way. I’m in awe of you.
Either way. We’ll survive.
Either way. I’m in awe of you.
Either way. We’ll survive.
We’ll survive.
Under the power lines
Which crackle and sparkle
Under the freeway
Now mostly rubble
The hungry still gather
To fill up with stories
Of monsters and heroes and men
Under the stars
Which prick us and call us
Connect us to hope
That perfection’s within is
Here on the ground
We’re reckless and hopeless
Damned by the slip of a pen
Rambling poets
Manic with vision
We are the drivers yet we feel driven
Moths in the moonlight
Fooled by a flashlight
Caught in a jam jar
Gasping for air
Rambling poets
Manic with vision
We are the drivers yet we feel driven
Moths in the moonlight
Fooled by a flashlight
Caught in a jam jar
Gasping for air
Either way. I’m in awe of you.
Either way. We’ll survive.
We’ll survive

Drivers Suck
I came to a stop on the way home tonight. The guys beside me screeches to a halt. The guy in front of me gives me the finger and yells at me!

Groove
It's officially been declared: Groove is, in fact, in the heart. I heard this song on the radio, walked around all day singing it. Pretty much until Anita was ready to hit me! But really, it is true, Groove is in the heart.
